Jennifer's National Adoption Registry

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I think I found a match but where the email address is supposed to be it only has an inquiry number.  What does this mean?

A: Remember or write down the inquiry number and go to the "Potential Match?" page (link on the left side of the page).  Some people don't want their email address broadcasted to the whole world wide web, so it is kept private.  When you fill out the short inquiry form your information and inquiry will be sent to me and then I can further assist you to find out if your match is a good lead or put you in contact with the person you're inquiring about.

Q: Some of the registry years are blank.  Is the page broken or not responding?

A: No, not at all.  This website has only been up for a day at the time I am writing this.  As more people stumble upon it, the registry will grow.  If you are searching, add your entry and help build it up.

Q: I submitted my entry, why can't I see it?

A: When you submit an entry it goes to me for approval.  I check my inbox frequently throughout the day so that your entries can be posted as quickly as possible.  If you still don't see your entry after 24 hours, contact me.  There may be a problem with the information you submitted or it may be missing information that I need.

Q: Someone in the forums is violating the rules.  What can I do?

A: There is a "report abuse" link in each post.  First use that.  If all else fails, contact me and I will have it removed.

Q: Why does the registry only go up to 1990?

A: If you were born on or before this day in 1990 that would make you 18 years of age.  Some states have laws about searching for a child under the age of 18 so to avoid violating these laws, children who are not 18 will not be allowed to post their registry.  I wish it were different, but you are more than welcome to come back when you are 18 and register.

Q: Why doesn't the registry start before 1940?

A: While I am sure there are people out there who were born before 1940 and adopted I am refraining from putting it in the registry until I get a request.  This doesn't mean there never will be and if you were born before then and would like it added I will happily do that for you!
